Stevie was born addicted to drugs.  By the time he was 2 years old he had been burned with cigarettes and forced to drink alcohol by his parents.  No one came to hold him, rock him, or comfort him when he cried.  Stevie learned that the world was not safe and that grown-ups hurt you.

Stevie now lives with his grandma and attends the therapeutic preschool at the San Luis Obispo Child Development Center.  When Stevie first started the program he was afraid of other children and his teachers.  Now he smiles and participates in activities, and plays together with other children.  Stevie’s grandma receives help on how to meet Stevie’s needs through our special counseling and parenting education program.  Stevie’s world is getting safer and Stevie knows that there are people who care about him.
